What's involved
Ever wanted to drive a military vehicle? Well now's your chance with this thrilling activity!
During this one-of-a-kind experience, you and your group will command an ex-British Army 6-ton Armoured Personnel Carrier around the beautiful New Forest in Hampshire.
The Humber 6-ton Armoured was designed to carry a section of infantry, 8 men, into battle. Its armour was thick enough to stop rifle, light machine gun fire, and shrapnel, giving you a great idea of the protection it provided!
Designed for two to four participants and accommodating up to 4 additional passengers, you'll drive approximately 26 miles during your session.
With its powerful 4.2-liter engine, 4-wheel drive, and imposing size - just over 16 feet long and 7 feet tall - this beast of a vehicle offers an unusual, yet exciting experience. Plus, you’ll hit top speeds of around 45 mph, making it the perfect chance to try something truly out of the ordinary!
Clients will stand in the commander's position, next to the driver, overseeing the vehicle's progress through off-road sections as well as quiet Forest roads.
Junctions have to be checked as well as crossroads and an eye has to be kept open for the famous New Forest ponies which wander freely here. If you can read a map then you can check on your progress, but this is not essential.
The client will command for about 15 minutes each before changing positions. The drive will take about an hour and a quarter with stops for you take photos, en route, to record this memorable experience. The drive finishes with a debrief and a welcome cup of coffee at a local hostel.
